Geelong is the second largest Victorian city behind Melbourne with an estimated urban population of 280,000.

Today, Geelong stands as an emerging tourist, healthcare, education and advanced manufacturing centre. The city's economy is shifting quickly and despite experiencing the drawbacks of losing much of its heavy manufacturing, it is seeing much growth in other tertiary sectors, positioning itself as one of the leading non-capital Australian cities. It is home to the Geelong Football Club, the second-oldest club in the Australian Football League.

The Geelong area hosts regular national and international events which are also tourist drawcards. Some of these include Australian International Airshow, Cadel Evans Road Race, Festival of Sails, the largest sailing regatta in the Southern Hemisphere and the biennial Wooden Boat Festival of Geelong, Baseball, Basketball, Golf, Rowing, Car Revival, Horse & Harness racing, Cricket & Gymnastics ………….the list is endless.

Geelong is the gateway to some exciting places, within easy reach of a day trip. Some of these include – Adventure Park, Fyansford Paper Mill Precinct, Werribee Park Mansion & Zoo, Ballarat Sovereign Hill, Kryal Castle & other interests, Buckley Falls based on the Barwon River and The You Yangs Regional Park.

Geelong’s region is also home to some fine golf courses, fishing spots, animal parks and activity parks for the kids.

The area also boasts world class wineries, gin distilleries, cider and whisky houses. Boasting beautiful restaurants, eateries and views.

Closer to the apartments and in the CBD precinct you will find the newly completed GPAC – Geelong Performing Arts also the new Library and Heritage Centre, both well worth a visit tying in with the Geelong Art Gallery. The National Wool Museum is located closer, tracing the history of Australia’s wool industry over the last two centuries. The Waterfront Precinct spans from Western Beach at Rippleside through to Eastern Gardens – not to be missed – The Carousel, Cunningham Pier, Bollard Walk, Botanical Gardens, Royal Geelong Yacht Club and a short drive Kardinia Park home of the AFL Geelong Cats.

For shopping enthusiasts large undercover centres – walking distance Westfield, and further afield Waurn Ponds and Leopold. Strip shopping along Pakington Street, East Geelong is also a must.

The restaurateurs of Geelong all have the same philosophy – make sure its fresh and local. The waterfront area has a myriad of all types of cuisines and styles – high end or casual. Of note also is the West End precinct, walking distance back into the CBD area – one after the other to tempt you. If cooking up a storm at your apartment, walking distance to The Fresh Food Merchant or Westfield Coles Supermarket will set you up.
